Kor's fight with cancer - the journey
Documenting the two-month journey of Kor's fight with cancer.
The journey started with a 12 month lifespan from the doctors, was shortened to 3-5 months. And really quickly to weeks, or even days.
During the time beside his bed, I started writing while watching him sleep. Writing was an output, it helped clear my mind. But my drafts were in the same messy state as my mind.
Today, Day 50 of Kor's departure, I finally found courage to start going through my drafts. Posting them up one by one.
Some too detailed. Many too painful. But it would give friends, especially kor's, a glimpse of what he was dealing.
My brother, he fought real hard. I wanted to honour that.
Maybe these stories would bring some inspiration to families facing the same situation. Our support was what Kor needed, and that's what we gave. It was the most tiring two months, mentally and physically. But it was all worth it.
"Daddy was living a life highway to hell... the way he eats, drinks and smokes.
But he is okay. I don't think it's cancer lah."
"I don't wish to live long, but I didn't expect it to be so soon."
"Everyone wants to do something (for me). They want to spend time. It's not fair to everyone too...
they should expect to have me for another forty years, but now they have to squeeze all the time to these few months..."
"I don't want to die..." he said finally... in his drowsines.
Kor was only 41 years, 2 months and 20 days old.
